  • 22-134

  • May 14, 2023 - May 14, 2023

  • 2 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.

CIE Dept invites you to Seminar on "Optimal Altitude Range for Image Collection Drone from Agricultural Areas with Image Resolution and Power Consumption Constraints" on Sunday, 14th of May, 2023 at 2:00PM in 22-134.

Speaker: Mr. Ahmed Abubaker , Graduate Student in System and Control Engineering in the CIE Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

Abstract:

Recently drones have been used to collect images covering an agricultural area in order to check on the crops’ condition. While the drone is hovering at a high altitude, the spatial resolution of the images becomes lower and the distance traveled to cover the whole farm is reduced, and when the drone is hovering at a low altitude, the spatial resolution of the images becomes higher, and the distance traveled will be longer. In this seminar, we will discuss effective methods to find the appropriate altitude range for the drone to cover a farm of known length and width with image resolution and traveled distance constraints.

Speaker Bio :

Mr. Ahmed Abubaker earned his Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, in 2020. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in System and Control Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. Ahmed's research interests lie in the fields of drones and robotics, optimal control, artificial intelligence, and the application of technology in agriculture.

All faculty, researchers and graduate students are invited to attend.
