This talk will highlight the major challenges involved in mission planning and scheduling for satellite missions. The existing approaches (classical and modern) shall be discussed along with their advantages and drawbacks. Specifically, the challenges and uncertainties introduced in the planning and scheduling problem due to faults shall be outlined. In this regard, the types and severity of different faults shall be discussed. Towards the end, the existing research gaps in the problem shall be mentioned and possible existing tools and technologies shall be suggested for improvements in the current state-of-the-art solutions.
