Abstract:
Research and Development on Autonomous Vehicles (AV) has been ongoing for a decade, if not more, to the point where several successful initiatives have entered the automotive market. Some great examples include Tesla's Autopilot, Google's Waymo, GM's Super Cruise and Cruise, and Mercedes-Benz's Intelligent Drive, among several others.
In this talk, we first look at a brief history of AV research and why AV research advanced the way it did. We then look at a generic Systems Design of an Autonomous Vehicle, followed by an understanding of the current state of this art, i.e. successful Autonomous Driving initiatives available now.
We finish by looking at the ethics and problems of AV, which leads to what future work in this field looks like.
