Abstract

This project involves the control of the azimuth position of an antenna, a crucial task considering the widespread application of antennas in satellite tracking, radar, telecommunication systems, and network operations. A Cascade PID controller was employed to control the azimuth position of the antenna. The control operation was simulated and analyzed using a MATLAB simulation platform, which exhibited the response characteristics of the system. System performance comparison before and after controller implementation indicated major improvements. More precisely, the controller was effective in performing its role of reducing settling time, overshooting, and removing the steady-state error, thereby improving system dynamics overall. The result also indicates the advantage of the Cascade PID controller over controllers used in current studies in that it promises ease of operation with the promise of realization of beneficial outcomes.
